Gossip columnist Rona Barrett hears town secrets from a bartender. Tom, living in his car, meets Eleanor and Penny. Merle begs on the streets; Heather sees a vision; Martha's shocked by George's new face; Loretta wakes up with a stranger.

Loretta and Charlie have affairs with Harmon and Sophia. Martha is turned off by George's new face, and Grandpa mistakes him for her boyfriend. When Penny shares her life story with the bartender, he assumes she's interested in him.

Everyone urges Heather to stay silent about her vision, except Harold Clemens, who seeks a story. Loretta's new manager, Jerry Hubbard, hires Mac as her bodyguard. Cathy and Martha form friendships with Eleanor and Penny.

Heather reveals her vision to the townspeople, upsetting Reverend Brim. Charlie confesses his affair to Tom. Eleanor learns new details about her medical condition. Harmon grows obsessed with Loretta. Merle loses interest in sex.

Loretta learns that Jerry knows about her affair. Wanda treats Merle to a meal, explaining that she got a loan. Eleanor tries to cozy up to Tom.

At the Hartmans' home, Eleanor irritates Heather, and Penny suffers a stuttering attack. While Martha tends bar, Merle and Billy discuss Heather's vision with a reporter. Meanwhile, Loretta confides in Wanda about her affair.
